Virginia CURE has been advocating for reform of Virginia’s criminal justice system since 1988. As an active, effective and respected voice, we bring attention to challenging criminal justice and prison issues that might otherwise be ignored. Virginia CURE addresses a wide range of issues including: parole of Old Law prisoners, prison conditions, medical issues, mental health, juvenile justice, voting rights for ex felons, reentry issues, abolition of the death penalty, sex offender issues, and more.
Virginia CURE dues are payable January 1, on a yearly, non-prorated basis for the current year. Virginia CURE is an all volunteer non-profit organization focusing on the Virginia criminal justice and prison systems, and the people whose lives are impacted by those systems.
To accomplish our mission, Virginia CURE networks with other organizations and the Executive and Legislative branches of Virginia government. In addition, we organize activities providing information, education and support to families, those who are presently or were formerly incarcerated, and other concerned citizens. Activities include an annual Advocacy Day at the General Assembly, an annual meeting, and special projects.
Volunteers advocate for bills, monitor legislation and provide legislative update to members via email, the website, and the newsletter. Local chapters meet regularly throughout the state. We cannot accomplish our goals without you. We invite you to donate, join, or volunteer in helping us ensure our ability to continue to serve the community.Thank you.
